I have never dived so deeply in the sea of Pantone colors as much as this season. Possibly because I am excited about their color selection which seems like a natural fit for spring. Why are colors so important in fashion and other forms of art? As designer Kung Katherine states “ Color (or print) is the first thing people notice on you. It is the most expressive component of an outfit and also highly personal.” Color is also impactful because of the memories it evokes – memories of travels, places, and nature and the emotion we experienced at that moment. Specifically in the spring and summer, these memories are of sunsets, warm breeze, mohitoes, sand, sea, colors of resorts, and the freedom and relaxation we feel. With that said, both designers and Pantone don’t forget that real life is a juxtaposition of construction and nature, technology and meditation and their choices of color and prints reflect that. Top 10 colors of the season are:
- Rose Quartz // 2. Peach Echo // 3. Serenity // 4. Snorkel Blue // 5. Buttercup // 6.Limpet Shell // 7. Lilac Gray // 8. Fiesta // 9. Iced Coffe // 10. Green Flash
With so many gorgeous colors at their disposal, it seems almost impossible to pick only one color of the year. This time around, we get to enjoy two main colors: Rose Quarts and Serenity. These beautiful colors reflect the energy of movement and creativity while at the same time express the sense of serenity and relaxation. It was hard to pick my favorites but Serenity, Limpet Shell, and Lilac Grey top the list.
Rose quarts and Serenity look great together and mix well with an array of other colors. My favorite pairings for Rose Quartz are Serenity, Sphinx, Malaga, and Lavender Fog.
And for Serenity are Silver Gray, Luminary Green, Arctic Ice, Rose Quartz.
Here are few ways to incorporate Rose Quartz and Serenity in your style. Generally, as I search for items in those colors, I look for blush, rose, baby pink, light blue, and baby blue. It is a bonus to find the exact match but fashion is more about fun and interpretation than following the rules strictly 🙂
Here is how I style a color similar to Rose Quartz. Unfortunately, all items are old and it is hard to find a similar jacket. I wish ZARA continues to make styles that are appealing to wider range of clients (vs strictly boho and minimalistic designs).
