It is not an exageration to say that the burgundy color is one of the “perks” of the fall season for me. Of course it can be worn all year around but the choices are most abundant this time of the year. I also find it to be flattering to most complexions and I enjoyed wearing when I was blond and now. Here are three ways I have recently worn this rich, beautiful color.
Styling this pullover three ways has been pretty easy and you can possibly come up with many more. The neutral color and sleeveless design make it very versatile and perfect for layering in fall and winter. It is not the cheapest poncho out there but it has great feel and weight to it. I got it during a 20% sale and I think it is worth the wait if you need one. It comes also in grey but I find that oatmeal is more versatile and more suitable for my complexion.
Pairing with fall basics. What do I consider fall basics? My basic fall prints are leopard and camo and basic colors are burgundy, dark denim, oatmeal, olive, camel, and black. This is a more of a transitional look as I am not wearing any layers under the poncho, the scarf is very light and the shoes are open.
Dressing up camo. Almost every piece in this outfit works towards elevating the camo – from the clean lines of the poncho to the sleek heels and structured bag. (more…)
These three outfits combine two of my favorite trends this summer – the off-the-shoulder and the statement sleeve trends. If I have to pick one favorite look I will have to go with the first look. While all of the looks make a statement, the first one makes me feel the most comfortable in terms of “coverage”. In addition, the combination of smocked elastic detail and tiered crochet on the sleeve is not one you see every day. For a more trendy, youthful styling, check out the model here.
The dress also features killer sleeves but in a more subtle way. I have to admit I purchased the dress so I can pair it with my new espadrilles. It came in with a few wrinkles but after taking care of those I saw the potential of this LWD (little white dress). The fabric is very casual (but lined) so it is the perfect vacation dress or cover up. Paired with the right accessories and shoes specifically, it can be elevated to a perfect date night outfit. I also love the smocked elastic neckline (similar to the first top) which I believe stays in place better than a simple elastic band.
The last top is not your typical statement sleeve top. While the lace sleeves are unique, I think that the overall top design with peeking lace accents is what made me want to keep it. True to the Free People brand, it is quite transparent but still in a classy way.
The best part of statement sleeves pieces is that they are, well, statement. That means that everything else can be kept pretty simple which always makes getting out of the door easier. What do you think of these outfits?
