“Curly” Jacket

Chanel Inspired "Boucle" Jacket

Hello everyone,

Have you yet spotted the perfect boucle jacket that will protect you against the summer breeze or the office chill? Boucle (from French “to curl”) jacket has been re-invented and has made a comeback with a bang.  Boucle refers to the yarn the jacket is made of and specifically the two-three threads used to create this yarn.  One thread is usually looser than the others, creating a bumpier look. That multidimensional texture has inspired fabric makers to come up with new fabrics that will fit everyone’s taste and budget.

1) “Too conservative for me” – No way. Pair with cropped skinny jeans, a simple tank top and flirty ballet flats for a more relaxed look. Or take it to the next level by pairing with 4-inch heels and a pearl top. This is my “having fun with the girls” look. It is definitely girly, right?

2) For the office – If you wish to keep it stylish for the office, yet cool, replace the knee – length skirt with an acceptable miniskirt. By keeping the shirt out, I was trying to achieve less structured and formal look.

3) Casual Friday – This is my Casual Friday go-to outfit. Dark wash boot-cut jeans, paired with a dress shirt and topped with a boucle jacket. Sounds plain? Not when you are creating a layering by combining similar colors and contrasting textures.

As you can see, I have a weakness to monochromatic (one-hue) pastel pairings. I can wear mint, lavender, and pink all day, every day. How would you pair a boucle or like-boucle jacket?

Yin-Yang

Teodoras Lookbook black white achromatic fashion6

This post is not really about achromatic colors. For those of you, as well as I, who didn’t know what achromatic is, it means “without color” like black, white and gray. This post is more about how black meets white, yin meets yang, female meets male, shadow meets light. For me, black and white in fashion are not contrasting colors but “complimentary” forces that interact to create a better, funkier style:)

The reasons why I like black/white fashion are clear as black and white – proportions are hard to mess up and color mismatch is even harder. And who would turn down another chance to wear ruby red lipstick – the best accessory for yin-yang style?

xoxo, Teodora

Style Trilogy: Watermelon Maxi Skirt

Teodoras Lookbook Watermelon Maxi Skirt 2

Hello there,

Do you ever buy a piece that you really like but you are not sure that there is more than one way to style it? That is the way I felt about this watermelon maxi skirt but surprisingly I am having fun with it and I am even taking it with me to fall by layering with a checkered shirt and a denim jacket. Who would want to part with something so lightweight, bright, and flattering (a great cover up), right? The only disadvantage is might hide a nice pair of shoes but I am willing to make that sacrifice. It sounds like something that Carrie Bradshaw would say, don’t you think?

Which is your favorite maxi skirt look?

Style Trilogy – Fuchsia Skirt

Teodoras Lookbook Atlanta sexy shoes

Hello everyone,

I hope you have fabulous plans for the week ahead.  I feel slightly scatterbrained tonight so I am not sure what the main topic should be for this post. You can help me:

1) How to pair a fuchsia skirt 3 – ways; hence the name of the post : Style Trilogy. Which is your favorite style? The work version is very elegant but I think the last one is my favorite. Who knew?

2) How I scored this killer pair of Badgley Mischka shoes for $70! I always admire bloggers and stylists who can consistently find and share deals. This is not the case -it was a combination of being my birthday (discount!) and being at the right place at the right time. I know, not very helpful but the store was DSW :)

3) What should I do with my hair? Although fashion styles come back, 80′s hair styles have not. I feel like it’s an 80′s video all over again. Any suggestions?

xoxo, Teodora

Style Trilogy: Purple – my new favorite color

Teodoras Lookbook Purple Work Attire

Hello everyone,

I know it is the weekend and no one has a business casual attire on their mind, but I wanted to conclude my “business casual” trilogy from this week. This is possibly my favorite look because I love the colors and the pattern of the skirt. Again, I have included a conservative and a flirty version (rolled up sleeves, tied shirt front, etc.). I am growing to love J.Crew’s pencil skirts as they do wonders to your tummy and hips. I was surprised to see that their website featured skirts going as high as $795 as I have always shopped at the store.

I hope you had a great rest of the weekend and please share which look you like the most(if any).

xoxo, Teodora

3-Way Style : Leopard Print

DSC_0023 copy

Hello everyone,

Who knew that leopard print can be a staple and mixed in so many ways? Although it may not be featured in the latest trend reports, leopard print will be a part of my wardrobe for a while and I will be having fun with this Express top for as long as I can. Now looking at it, the latest look is my favorite. The ruffles give the top certain playfulness but the  magenta jeans make it stand out even more. What are some of your favorite ways to pair leopard print?

3-Way Style : Magenta Jeans

DSC_0056

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a fabulous weekend. As part of the 3-Way Style series, here are a few different ways to pair magenta jeans. Now that I look at the pictures, the more appropriate title would be : How to pair magenta jeans with a mustard yellow tank top. I used the tank top as a way to separate the magenta jeans from the patterned tops. These jeans are now part of my staples wardrobe and I can’t wait to figure out more ways to pair them. What is your favorite look?

And here are some of my favorite colors to pair with magenta:

Looking Back

animal print skirt

Happy Thursday (or Friday) lovely ladies,

Here is a look back on some of my more focal pieces paired in three or more ways. I purchased this pair of jeans for a cameo in a hip-hop video (Rock N Rolla) but only my profile made it for less than 5 seconds (the second look below). I have tried to make the distressed jeans look more girlie and soft by pairing with open toe shoes and round toe pumps. From looking at the versions below, I like the third version the most, as the flowy top creates more balance with the tight fit jeans. Going back and putting these pics together helps me realize what I  could have done better. The next version I would try is with more relaxed, classic, and basic top and a scarf. And the next pair of distressed jeans will be with more relaxed fit and less rip.

I have always thought that pairing a leopard print skirt will be a challenging task but I get to realize that almost everything goes with animal print – leather jacket, stripes, denim (shirt),polka dots,  or a simple relaxed-fit tee. Again, next time I will try to create more balance for top and bottom, possibly with a denim shirt.

I got a little bit a obsessed with the school girl look but I have wanted to do it for years. I decided that if I don’t do it before 35, I would not do it at all :) Similar to the leopard skirt, you can pair those boots and socks with pretty much anything. I personally would avoid pairing with tight-fitting skirts. Although I like the look with over the knee socks, I would not venture to do it either.

Which is your favorite version of all three looks?
