Metal Cap-toe Shoes

Teodoras Lookbook metal cap toe shoes 2

Hello everyone,

This post is the reason why I should not take photos after work when I am exhausted, when it is dark and when all I want to do is cuddle in bed and watch TV. However, my excitement to share these lovely metal toe-cap shoes proved to be stronger. My obsession with cap toe shoes started earlier in the year but it seems that this trend has been in full force for a while as caps or reinforced toes  are present very frequently in both oxfords and boots.  What do I love most about them? Their versatility – the pointed-toe shape and the metal caps make these shoes both sophisticated and edgy, appropriate to pair with both cropped pants and distressed jeans.

Little Red Lips

Teodoras Lookbook Peplum Dress 1

There are so many reasons that make me enjoy this ensemble – the clash of classic and edgy, the tailored fit, the red lips… I read this quote in the September InStyle issue and wanted to share it with you:

“Red lipstick is to beauty what the Little Black Dress is to fashion. The difference is that when you walk into a room wearing a red lip, people notice you.” Francois Nars

Peplum

Today I spoke to a friend I have not heard from in a long time. She said she enjoys reading my blog and that what I do is great as long as I am having fun. Sometimes we focus too much on what is right and what is wrong, on what is expected from us and we forget to relish every minute of our lives. I don’t want to get caught in the daily grind and let life pass me by as if I am dreaming. I want to be conscious of every minute I do something, and I want that something to be different, exciting and enriching. When I say “exciting” I don’t mean bungee jumping or sex on the plane. I mean things I have experienced as a byproduct of my blog: learning a new skill like sewing, meeting amazing people like Taneisha and Al with photographywithTK.com, arranging a photo-shoot (pictures coming soon), and wearing things like a peplum dress.

Well, wearing peplum is not as dramatic as it seems or as some people have portrayed it to be.  For me, it is more of a accessory so I don’t go overboard with other accessories. Also, when talking peplum, I prefer smartly tailored styles, less print, more ruffles, especially if created by a waist clincher. So many reasons to like peplum, starting with its hour-glass accentuating qualities, Jennifer Aniston, and its 19th century birth (everyone who knows me well is familiar with my weakness to period drama).

Teodoras Lookbook Mint Fashion 3

Hello everyone,

With fall almost here, I would have to bid adieu to one of the coolest colors there is: mint. It is hard for me to not wear mint from head to toe and to keep it in small doses. Although considered a cool color, if mint is your favorite color, it means you are modest, insightful and kind-hearted. Wait, you are these things but mint is not your favorite? LOL. Do you believe in meanings of colors?

BIG 30th

Teodoras Lookbook Atlanta Style 1

Hello everyone,

This past weekend we celebrated my friend Nadia’s BIG 30th at a local restaurant called Serpas. If you ever get lost in Atlanta,  please make sure to try their Jumbo Sea Scallops or their challenging-at-first glance hamburger. The event was an amazing celebration of achievements, dreams, enjoying life, and appreciation of friends and family. It was also an occasion for all of us to look fabulous, especially for my girlfriends in their Karen Millen numbers.

I wanted to write something about most popular gifts for girlfriends but I realized that there is a wide range based on budget. It usually happens that my gift giving creative juices run dry  and I always project my desires on my friend’s presents. That is why they usually end up with clothes, shoes, jewelry, and fragrances. What is you fallback gift for girlfriends?

Getting Ready

Teodoras Lookbook Atlanta Style

Hello everyone,

I am sorry for being absent – I am getting ready for the “Big Trip”. I will be going on my annual Bulgaria trip and every year I ask myself the same question – what is the fashion like back home? Am I going to fit right in? Although the big cities have the same stores (ZARA, H&M), the rest of the country follows more of a local style. I am proud to say, however, that Bulgarian women are quite stylish :)

I will also make sure to visit your blogs as soon as possible – because you know what – I need an inspiration. I miss seeing both the latest trends and classic fashions, as well as the best way to style them. So I promise to say hello really soon.

Setting Sail

Teodoras Lookbook Nautical Accessories

While everyone is living the excitement of fall fashion, I am still making a splash with a summer, nautical inspired look. It has not been a month since I last featured a nautical outfit, but my infatuation with a seafaring style is stronger than ever. It might be because I was born in the summer, or maybe because I wanted to be a pirate as a child, or maybe, just maybe, because of my dream of Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Although the basic nautical look is built on horizontal stripes, I think that this vertical “bleeding stripes” top is a great substitute. Red colored accessories would have provided a great pop of color but due to the lack of those, my mustard color purse came to my rescue. However, the most exciting part of this outfit for me are the accessories, and specifically the anchor earrings. How cute are those?

She Knows the Ropes

Teodoras Lookbook Nautical Style 3

Hello everyone,

I may not know my way around the sea, but I am “getting to know the ropes” of nautical fashion. It makes you wonder what makes this style so timeless and classic. I think its association with vacation, sun, sea (freedom), yachts (class), simplicity…I became interested in it as I purchased this navy blue, beautifully-detailed  Silvian Heach jacket from Bulgaria. Over time I realized that I don’t have to always shoot for a complete nautical outfit but I can incorporate various, small sea elements within any outfit. What are some of the typical nautical elements you ask? Navy and white stripes (as in the outfits here and here) is a no brainer but other colors like red, yellow and green will work beautifully. Any accessories that incorporate ropes, chains, and anchors will perfectly express your nostalgia for the sea. Do you love the sea the way I do?

Teodora

Teodoras Lookbook watermelon maxi skirt 5

Good Monday Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. This post was inspired by InStyle’s Color Crash Course on watermelon color as well as my summer love for watermelon. I have been eying this Armani Exchange skirt for a long time but was not sure what I could pair it with. The Color Crash Course suggested white, khaki, tangerine, and cobalt which made it so easy as I already had the white jacket and the saturated blue top. Thank you InStyle!

“Women in Black” – Business Casual Attire

Teodoras Lookbook Men in Black 4

Hello,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spend some time preparing for a work trip coming up this week so my next three posts are devoted to business casual attire, or how we can look professional while still having fun. I recently gave a presentation at my Toastmaster’s club on best attire for an interview but it is harder to nail down business casual for the workplace. So many companies, so many countries. Over the next three posts I will share business casual attire as I would like it to be (yep, I know, the skirts need a couple of more inches in length :)

Shirt – Ann Taylor
Skirt – Oscar de la Renta (thrifted from Alexis Suitcase)
Shoes – ALDO
Necklace – Dillards (similar)
Briefcase – present from my brother, from Bulgaria
