This outfit was inspired by a visit with my friends Nadia and Alberto last weekend and their furry bundles of joy Zoe and Lexy. Unfortunately I don’t have good photos of them as every attempt to catch a moment of stillness was fruitless. Since I was not able to take Zoe and Lexy home, the next best thing was to find a cozy and soft to the touch sweater with a puppy on it. I was lucky to find this gem among a number of other treasures on the shelves of C. Wonder. This new store in Atlanta is part of a chain started by Christopher Burch, Tory Burch’s ex-husband.

Here is my experience in a few words:

  • As C. Burch describes it, the style is “basic with a twist”. If you like J. Crew, you may find a thing or two you like at C. Wonder
  • Yet to experience the quality, but prices seem to be comparable if not better than J. Crew
  • A great atmosphere due to an in-house DJ and an amazing decor
  • I love the three types of products offered- apparel, jewelry and home accessories
  • I can’t wait to go back and get a reversible belt with an interchangeable letter buckle

She Knows the Ropes

Hello everyone,

I may not know my way around the sea, but I am “getting to know the ropes” of nautical fashion. It makes you wonder what makes this style so timeless and classic. I think its association with vacation, sun, sea (freedom), yachts (class), simplicity…I became interested in it as I purchased this navy blue, beautifully-detailed  Silvian Heach jacket from Bulgaria. Over time I realized that I don’t have to always shoot for a complete nautical outfit but I can incorporate various, small sea elements within any outfit. What are some of the typical nautical elements you ask? Navy and white stripes (as in the outfits here and here) is a no brainer but other colors like red, yellow and green will work beautifully. Any accessories that incorporate ropes, chains, and anchors will perfectly express your nostalgia for the sea. Do you love the sea the way I do?

Style (or not) Book : Display of Power

Hello everyone,

So “Display of Power” by Daymond John is not really a style book; it is more a story about “fashion, branding and lifestyle”. I have never heard of Daymond John or FUBU (no offense, it is me to blame) before I discovered one of my favorite TV shows of all times – “Shark Tank” (more about it here). “Display of Power” is a great book for everyone, not only fashion lovers. It is inspirational on many levels – from finding the power within, to succeeding through determination and commitment, to believing in what you do, and not accepting “no” for an answer. Daymond talks about the importance of branding, especially for fashion business, by sharing how FUBU (For Us, By Us) was born. I love the numerous anecdotal stories that help prove his point as the story about Timberland’s marketing misstep that inspired him to create FUBU. If you want to take a break from all the fictional read around you and you ever dream of career in fashion, I highly recommend that you take a look at Daymond’s story!

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I know mine was special, because 30-something years ago I wore my first suit, that is my “birthday suit”. Mr. Hubby made sure I had the best and unforgettable time. This outfit resulted from one of our inevitable shopping trips. I immediately fell in love the off-the-shoulder look, the print, the feel and the price of this top ($9). Of course, the challenge will be figuring out how to wear it to work without getting anyone in trouble :)

A Week in a casual business attire

Hello everyone,

 

How is your week so far? I hope your are in the process of planning a summer vacation or having one. But not for me. I am in the middle of a out of town business trip ( pic taken during the weekend) and here is my second business casual outfit. The first three pictures show a more relaxed version of it with rolled up sleeves, colored tank underneath and sandals. The more conservative version is buttoned up and with closed toe shoes. What do you prefer?

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful week. Mine was not action packed but was full with dreams and inspiration. Why am I talking about risk in the title of this post? Because I felt I was taking one when I left the house yesterday in the outfit below. Checkered and stripes? In different colors? These are the questions I read in some of my co-workers’ eyes and some even “dared” to voice them. To which I replied, that “fashion greatness was not born in safety”. Needless to say, they were even more puzzled.

People create blogs with different things in mind – expressing themselves, finding supporters, making money, etc. The goal of my blog is to help me find what I really like and what comes to me naturally. I know I am drawn to fashion naturally but what I most enjoy with fashion is to be found. My blog has recently helped me re-descover my love for color – in clothes, home, beauty. Tall knee-high boots with knee-high socks – Style #1

I have again ran into one of these modes where I feel like I don’t have anything to wear. That is why I have decided to learn to mix and match as much as possible which will allow me to enjoy my outfits without breaking the bank. In other words, you will be seeing more of those numbered posts. If there are more Styles numbered 3 than styles numbered 1 over time, that means I am on the right track. If not, that means I am back to my old ways of wearing one outfit over and over again.

I like the colors of my socks and boots to be present in my outfit so I picked brown corduroy jacket and brown/cream checkered(very small) pleaded dress. At the same time, it was getting to be too matchy-matchy so I spiced it up with red leather gloves and a red animal print clutch. I hope you like it!

Beautiful Liar

This is an outfit I wore a couple of weeks ago with the girls on the town. We went to dance the night away at a local club called Tongue and Groove and we had a blast. They were playing hit after hit and we did not sit down for at least two hours. I don’t know about you, but I play loud dance music at home all the time and somehow while I do that I have a vivid image and feeling that I can dance like Beyonce or Shakira in Beautiful Liar. Unfortunately, I have been told that this is not the case. But a girl can dream, right?
